HSUS Expo 2012 Success !

The 2012 Animal Care EXPO Experience in Vegas last week gave CRIJO an opportunity to thank it's shelter customers and showcase the new "state of the art" New Generation cat room equipment. Valuable lectures from speakers such as Dr. Sandra Newbury, Dr. Emily Weiss, Dr. Cyndi Crawford, Heather Lewis, Sharon Harvey and others sent animal welfare enthusiast home with a wealth of knowledge. Next year in Nashville for the 2013 EXPO, CRIJO plans on continuing active participation as a Sponsor for the Conference.

In addition to all the wonderful activity at the show, CRIJO announced its new Elevated Feeding Station for the New Generation product line. The elevated feeding station can be attached to a variety of the New Generation products to provide optional and additional feeding capacity. The unit feature stainless steel feeding bowls and Sisal mats for rear paw traction.

Dr. Rand is a professor at The University of Queensland in Australia. Professor Rand was appointed Professor of Companion Animal Health in 2001, and in 2002 became founder and director of the Centre for Companion Animal Health at the University of Queensland, Australia. She is an internationally recognised leader in diabetes and obesity research in cats and dogs . She has published extensively in these areas, and is the author of many book chapters. In November 2007 Professor Rand was appointed Deputy Chairperson of the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Queensland.
In addition to her diabetes and obesity research, Professor Rand is currently involved in developing programs in areas that enrich human-animal relationships, and prevent unwanted and problem pets, as well as fundraising to support a wide variety of research in companion animal health throughout the veterinary school. Professor Rand has attracted extensive and ongoing support for Centre studies from industry groups in the US and Europe.
Professor Rand graduated from Melbourne University in 1975, and worked in practice for 8 years before doing a residency and doctorate at the Ontario Veterinary College, Canada, followed by 3 years as a senior registrar at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1989; and in 1990 returned to Australia to take up a senior academic position at the University of Queensland.

Grant Smith representing CRIJO Pet Products, LLC had the pleasure of introducing Dr. Kate Hurley at the University of Florida, Maddie's Shelter Medicine Conference. All attendees including CRIJO gained valuable knowledge from her very informative talk on "How to Keep Cats Healthy and Happy in Shelters". It was at this Conference that suggestions from Dr. Hurley were subsequently implemented to develop the “New Generation” Shelter Equipment for the Multi-Cat adoption rooms
